A
Note from Mona Magick
When I first put up my site in 2003 with only 4 pages it was just
a method of expression not to mention a presence on the internet.
Today it's grown to be a mini hub of information that I work to
keep both very informative and interesting. In the upcoming months
I will introduce more esoteric and occult philosophies as I feel
it's time to shift to a deeper level of what I currently have online.
Within my newsletters, I'll bring back the Monthly Spells and Q&A
of the month due to popular demand. Overall, I aim for all to enjoy,
and or learn adding just what you need for what ever journey or
path you're on.
Blessings,
Mona Magick
Women
of Forbidden Fruit
by
Mona Magick
I thought to dedicate this month's newsletter to the women in the
world of Occult both past and present. Granted next month I will
dedicate to men - for purposes of energies I thought it would be
appropriate to focus on them separately. Keep in mind that I am
well aware of the many women in today's society that have contributed
vastly, to a higher consciousness of spiritualism and the occult
- in fact too many for a newsletter. So I have focused on 3 main
special women that have changed many lives:
Helena Blavatsky
Founded
the Theosophical Society in New York City in 1875, the Society's
principal founders were Helena Petrovna Blavatsky, the first Russian
woman to be naturalized as an American citizen, and Henry Steel
Olcott, a prominent lawyer and journalist who became the first President
of the Society. Madame Blavatsky was a Russian of noble birth, whose
mother was a social novelist and whose grandmother was an accomplished
amateur scientist. Read

Marie Leveau
Born in the 1790's, Marie
daughter of a white planter and a Creole woman. She moved to New
Orleans in her youth and was raised a devout Catholic - later becoming
friends with Pere Antoine, the chaplain at St. Louis Cathedral.
At the age of twenty-five, Marie joined a local freeman Jacques
Paris in what was by all accounts a happy marriage. Later after
his disappearance and presumed death, she lived with Cristophe Glapion.
Between the two men, Marie bore fifteen children including her daughter
Marie who it is said, bore a striking resemblance to her mother
and eventually became a Voodoo priestess as well.

Dion
Fortune
Born
Violet Mary Firth and better known as Dion Fortune, was a British
occultist and author. Her name was inspired by her family motto
"Deo, non fortuna" (Latin for "God, not fate").
Violet grew up in a household where Christian Science was rigorously
practiced. She reported visions of Atlantis at age four and the
developing of psychic abilities during her twentieth year, at which
time she suffered a nervous breakdown; after her recovery she found
herself drawn to the occult. Her first magical mentor was the Irish
occultist and Freemason Theodore Moriarty. In 1919 she was initiated
into the London Temple of the Alpha et Omega before transferring
to the Stella Matutina order. Read
